Bytown Mechanics Institute and Athenaeum is re-established (originally formed in 1847; name changed in 1856 to the Ottawa Mechanics Institute). Club amalgamates with the Natural History Society in 1870 to form the Ottawa Literary and Scientific Society, which would eventually be replaced by the Ottawa Field Naturalists’ Club in 1879 (formally incorporated as such in 1884).
Rétablissement du Mechanics’ Institute and Athenaeum (fondé initialement en 1847, il change de nom en 1856 pour devenir l’Ottawa Mechanics’ Institute). Le club s’associe à la Natural History Society en 1870 pour former l’Ottawa Literary and Scientific Society, qui sera remplacée par l’Ottawa Field Naturalists’ Club en 1879 (officiellement constitué comme tel en 1884).
