Arrival of more than 4,000 Vietnamese, Cambodian, and Laotian people as a result of Project 4000, the first of several large-scale initiatives officially undertaken in Ottawa. Later waves of refugees, including Somalian, Haitian, Sudanese, Afghani, and Syrian peoples have transformed the face of the city in the past four decades.
